Pregnancy, postpartum, and therapeutic massage Services

Prenatal Massage in Layton, Utah

Specialized prenatal, postpartum, and custom therapeutic massage care from Mindy Bigler, LMT.

Pregnancy can make even normal daily movement feel harder. Mother Nurture Baby gives you a quiet, supportive place to relieve aches, settle your nervous system, and feel more comfortable in your changing body.
Why specialized massage matters

Massage that respects the pregnant body

Prenatal massage is not regular massage with lighter pressure. Your body needs better positioning, careful support, and a therapist who understands how pregnancy changes the hips, back, pelvis, ribs, feet, and nervous system. Mindy uses fully adjustable body support cushions, wedges, pillows, bolsters, and session modifications so you can rest safely and comfortably. Many clients are surprised that they can lie face-down again with the right setup.

Prenatal Body Balance Sessions

Body balance work is a more targeted session for the pelvis, abdomen, low back, uterine ligaments, and the soft tissue around the pelvis. It uses massage, muscle release work, active movement, and stretching to help the body make more space and feel less restricted. This can be especially helpful later in pregnancy when a baby is breech, transverse, posterior, or simply needs more room to maneuver. It is not a replacement for medical care, chiropractic care, or provider guidance, but it can be a strong complement to your birth preparation.

Common concerns

Prenatal Massage Safety, Pressure & Positioning

There are a lot of old myths around prenatal massage: no feet, no deeper pressure, no lower back work, no first trimester, no face-down positioning. With a trained prenatal massage therapist and the right support, massage can be therapeutic, comfortable, and appropriate for most normal pregnancies. Mindy does not treat pregnant clients like they are fragile. She adjusts the table setup, bolsters, pressure, and focus areas based on your body and intake form. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or a medical concern, ask your provider and share that information before the session.

Face-down is often possible

Specialty cushions create space for your belly and breasts so many clients can rest comfortably.

Side-lying is available too

If your body prefers side-lying or needs extra support, the session can be modified.

Pressure is customized

Sessions can be relaxing, focused, or more therapeutic depending on what feels right.

When Should You Come In?

Massage does not have to be saved for when you are already miserable. Many clients do best when they use massage as part of regular pregnancy and postpartum care.

Early to mid pregnancy

A monthly session can help manage normal aches, stress, and postural changes as your body adjusts.

Late pregnancy

Every other week or weekly care may be helpful as sleep, hips, low back, ribs, and swelling become bigger issues.

Postpartum

Massage can support recovery, nursing posture, soreness, and the emotional reset many mothers need after birth.

After C-section

Wait until your incision is healing well, usually at least two weeks, and follow your provider’s guidance.

Prenatal Massage FAQ

A few answers before your first appointment. The full FAQ page includes more detail about policies, doula questions, and payment.

Yes. Mindy uses specialty orthopedic body support cushions that are fully adjustable for your belly and breasts. Side-lying and extra bolsters are available if your body needs a different setup.

For most normal pregnancies, prenatal massage can be safe throughout pregnancy. If you have a high-risk condition or specific medical concern, check with your prenatal provider and share the details on your intake form.

Yes, pressure can be customized. Prenatal massage does not have to be only light touch, but the session should be adapted by someone trained in pregnancy positioning and precautions.

Some clients return within the first few days postpartum and bring baby with them. After a C-section, Mindy usually recommends waiting until the incision is healing well, often around two weeks or longer depending on recovery.

Wear or remove what helps you feel comfortable. You stay properly draped during the session, and only the area being worked on is uncovered.

No. Pregnancy and postpartum care are specialties, but many of the techniques also help with back, hip, and general body discomfort. Male clients are accepted by referral only.
